Week beginning - Monday 21st March

 

This week we have been learning about fractions. We have been identifying 1/2, 1/4 and 1/3 of a shape and an amount. 






On Thursday we welcomed our families into school to share afternoon tea. The children made invitations to invite their grown up. The children then helped to set us the afternoon tea.

Week 2 - Monday 13th September 2021

This week we enjoyed being Geographers! Using a map of the school the children negotiated their way round and decided whether different features within the school grounds were human or physical. We shared a Powerpoint presentation to remind ourselves of what human and physical features were, along with the examples on the Powerpoint, the children were able to give their own examples too. The children used the map that I had made for them but were very resourceful in adding additional diagrams and labels to their maps.

Week beginning - Monday 7th February

In English this week we have started looking at Kenning's poems. We shared lots of dinosaur themed Kenning's poems. In partners the children learnt a dinosaur Kenning poem and performed it to the rest of the class. After half term we will be learning about the features of a Kenning poem and planning and writing our own.

Thursday 21st and Friday 22nd April 2022

This week in phonics and grammar, we have been extending our learning around the effective use of dictionaries. The children have been using dictionaries to find correct spellings of words as well as definitions of unfamiliar words.  In maths this week we have been learning how to effectively divide, we have been focusing on sharing before moving onto grouping. The children have been answering word problems in concrete, pictorial and abstract ways. They have also been writing out the number sentences for their calculations as well as the inverse! I am super proud of their maths work this week.  Before the Easter holidays the children designed and made dinosaur eggs out of mod rock. Yesterday they had the opportunity to paint their eggs, they referred back to their designs to ensure their painted was accurate to what they had designed!
