Week beginning - Monday 15th November

In Science this week we have been looking at the properties of materials. The children have been introduced to new vocabulary, allowing them to discuss a variety of properties of materials. Before the lesson we recapped our understanding of objects and materials. The children matched the property with the definition of the property.











 

In Maths this week we have been adding and subtracting using base 10, tens frames and number lines. The children's learning was extended by them crossing through tens and learning the method of exchanging. 










On Wednesday we continued our learning around Hundertwasser in Art. We went into the outside area to collect evidence of nature. The children were able to recall what they had learnt about Hundertwasser from their previous lesson and knew that nature and the outside made Hundertwasser happy therefore he chose to draw and paint nature. Once the children had gathered some evidence of nature, they came back in to sketch these pieces in their sketchbooks. We looked at the technique of sketching and discussed the type of pencil we were using and how it is different to the pencil we use for the rest of our learning. Using water colours, the children painted their sketches of nature.









































Three very important letters are coming home tonight, please look out for these. Another to follow next week!

Week beginning - Monday 13th June 2022

 Last week in science we were identifying the parts of a plant. The child have been able to recall the names of the parts of a plant well. The children used different materials to represent the different parts of a plant. On completion of their model, the children labelled their creations! This week the children have been learning about the functions of the parts of a plant, they recorded these in a table.  We have begun our athletics learning and preparation for sports day. This week the children recalled and added to their knowledge of long jump. We discussed the technique in detail and it was modelled to the children before having a go themselves. The children measured their own jumps using the metre sticks. Week 2 - Monday 13th September 2021

This week we enjoyed being Geographers! Using a map of the school the children negotiated their way round and decided whether different features within the school grounds were human or physical. We shared a Powerpoint presentation to remind ourselves of what human and physical features were, along with the examples on the Powerpoint, the children were able to give their own examples too. The children used the map that I had made for them but were very resourceful in adding additional diagrams and labels to their maps.
