Week beginning - Monday 8th November
In Science this week we have been exploring a variety of materials and their names. We went on a materials hut to see what we could find in and around school!
On Thursday 11th November we celebrated Remembrance Day; together we shared a Powerpoint presentation to help us identify and understand why this day is celebrated and why poppies are worn. After some very rich discussions around Remembrance Day, the children had the opportunity to make their own poppy. These are displayed in the classroom and will go into 'Our Journey through prayer' book next week.
As part of our Gender Equality Day on Monday, we did some work around Elmer the patchwork elephant. We shared the story and the designed our own elephant on reflection of what we had learnt about Gender Equality and inclusiveness that morning. Each child designed their own elephant and today we voted for the elephant we would like to make our main piece of artwork of. The children will now work collectively to create a large elephant. Not forgetting a huge special mention to Miss Coles who did a wonderful job a drawing and cutting out our large elephant for us.
