Week beginning - Monday 25th April 2022

In maths this week we have moved on from sharing to grouping. The children have been applying varying methods of division to calculate division (grouping) problems. They have been exposed to concrete, pictorial and abstract methods; this showing progression in the children's learning and development in this area of maths.

In music with Mrs Pell this week, the children had the opportunity to use the glockenspiels whilst following a piece of music! They really enjoyed have the opportunity to use them.

In English, we are continuing to look at the features of a postcard. The children are having the opportunity to apply their knowledge of these features in their writing.

In art, we began exploring the work of Henri Rousseau. We learnt lots about him that we didn't know before. Collectively, we shared images of Rousseau's work and discussed our likes and dislikes. The children then recorded this in their sketch books.

On Monday we had a brilliant PE lesson, the children learnt about the effective techniques of throwing and catching. The children were able to apply their skills through the games we played.

In Geography, we began learning about the equator and the North and South pole, we spoke a little bit about the climate zones but will be looking at this further next week.

Enjoy the bank holiday weekend, see you on Tuesday. Don't forget your swimming kit!
