Week beginning - Monday 16th May 2022

 



In PE this week we have been learning how to effectively throw and catch. The children were then challenged to catch in a variety of ways. 









In art on Tuesday, the children identified and classified a variety of materials using a Carroll diagram. We discussed the various combinations that there could be and then the children chose the headings they wanted to use. 










After we had completed our art on Tuesday. The children had ice creams, sauce and sprinkles to celebrate 3 SATs tests being completed so far!






















On Wednesday we walked to the post box to deliver the postcards that we wrote last week. The children were really excited to be able to share their work with their families! 

























In geography this week the children have been identifying and comparing the human and physical features of hot and cold countries. They particularly enjoyed this lesson and loved finding out new things!






We had a lovely morning in the Forest School area today! Miss Coles was the chief newt catcher and Beau caught a fish!


















Well done to our Year 2 children who all received a superstar award today for their efforts with their SATs this week.

 Last week in science we were identifying the parts of a plant. The child have been able to recall the names of the parts of a plant well. The children used different materials to represent the different parts of a plant. On completion of their model, the children labelled their creations! This week the children have been learning about the functions of the parts of a plant, they recorded these in a table.  We have begun our athletics learning and preparation for sports day. This week the children recalled and added to their knowledge of long jump. We discussed the technique in detail and it was modelled to the children before having a go themselves. The children measured their own jumps using the metre sticks. Week beginning - Monday 7th February

In English this week we have started looking at Kenning's poems. We shared lots of dinosaur themed Kenning's poems. In partners the children learnt a dinosaur Kenning poem and performed it to the rest of the class. After half term we will be learning about the features of a Kenning poem and planning and writing our own.

Week 2 - Monday 13th September 2021

This week we enjoyed being Geographers! Using a map of the school the children negotiated their way round and decided whether different features within the school grounds were human or physical. We shared a Powerpoint presentation to remind ourselves of what human and physical features were, along with the examples on the Powerpoint, the children were able to give their own examples too. The children used the map that I had made for them but were very resourceful in adding additional diagrams and labels to their maps.
