Week 5 - Monday 4th October - Harvest Celebration

 

We have spent some time prepared for our harvest celebrations. The children spent some time choosing some significant harvest produce. In collage style, the children worked in partners to decorate their foods. What a beautiful job they made of them too! Using our knowledge of alliteration, we worked as a class to describe the produce. The children presented these in our church service this morning. 









During the church service Reverend Richard spoke to us about harvest and the produce that has been so kindly donated by the families in our school. The food we have collected helps those less fortune that us, helping to lessen starvation in the world. Reverend Richard very cleverly used the letters in the word harvest to spell the word 'have' and 'starve'.

 The children loved their triple jump lesson this week! They applied their mathematical knowledge and understanding when measuring the distance they had jumped.  This week we planted our sunflower plants; it was a VERY hard job because the ground was so dry and solid.  This week we looked at the features of a Haiku poem and focused particularly on the syllables within a Haiku poem. The children used instruments to tap out the syllables within words.   We made bread in DT! Our bread was a huge success and the children worked very hard when weighing out the ingredients for our bread.  We have been working on volume and capacity this week and comparing different amounts!

Week beginning - Monday 6th December 2021

 On Monday we enjoyed a trip to Bookbugs and Dragon Tales in Norwich. We shared stories and had a lovely look around the bookshop. We made a Christmas craft linking to the book we had just read. In the afternoon we enjoyed a drama workshop around the Julia Donaldson book, Zog. Before we left, the children had the opportunity to purchase a book of their choice!  On Tuesday we wale to St Mary's Church in Stalham to look at the trees at the Christmas Tree Festival. We enjoyed looking at all of the tree and then having a hot chocolate and biscuit before we left and walked back to school! Today we continued our project around Gender Equality, drawing and colouring our self portraits to stick on Elmer the elephant that Miss Coles helped us to make! Today with Miss Coles the children mad reindeer food in preparation for Christmas!
