Week beginning - Monday 7th March 2022
In maths this week we have been doing lots of work on 2D shapes. Earlier in the week we identified and classified the shapes into categories according to their properties. The children arranged the shapes using a Venn diagram. The class were responsible to creating their own category headings. The demonstrating a wonderful understanding of implementing a Venn diagram. The children also applied their knowledge of repeating patterns and used shapes to represent this. When working independently, the children were asked to fine the 6th shape for example. This required lots of problem solving. Some children chose to use concrete objects to help them, others used pictorial representations. We have also been identifying lines of symmetry! We are able to discuss horizontal, vertical and diagonal lines of symmetry. We were very lucky to have lots of trees donated to the school by the Woodland Trust.
